4Th of July Celebration

The July 4th carnival is at Penn Wynne Elementary School at Haverford Road near Remington Road, Wynnewood (playing fields on Trent Road behind the school). The carnival runs from 10:30-1:30 (approximately). There is a parade through the Penn Wynne Community that starts at the Firehouse on Manoa Road (and Rockglen Road) and goes to the school at 10 am on the 4th. Judging for the parade is from 9:30-10 am. The theme this year is "Penn Wynne Goes Green".

Families can register for the parade and carnival at the Firehouse on July 1-3 from 5:30-7:30 pm and on July 4th from 9-10 am. The fee is $15 for the entire family; each child in the family receives a parade ticket that also contains free coupons for games and a pretzel at the parade.

Welcome to the Penn Wynne Civic Association Website

Welcome to the Penn Wynne Civic Association website. We are a non-partisan, volunteer organization founded in the 1950's in Lower Merion Township in Eastern Pennsylvania. Our Civic is made up of residents committed to promoting a safe and vibrant residential community in Penn Wynne through a range of activities and events. We are a member of the Federation of Civic Associations of Lower Merion Township.

The PWCA meets the first Thursday of every month, except for July and August. Along with our monthly meetings at which we discuss issues of concern to residents in our area, we have committees and workgroups dealing with:

  • Important changes in the community around us, e.g. Lankenau Hospital's expansion, Philadelphia International Airport expansion
  • Safety and Crime
  • Nearby communities - Overbrook Park, the City Avenue Corridor, other civic associations in Lower Merion
  • Business activities
  • Community celebrations - from our annual Fourth of July Parade and Carnival, to periodic coffee or ice cream socials
  • And more
